Principal's Message

Dear Families,

 

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you and your child to Bennett-Kew P-8 Leadership Academy. My Name is Sarah Appleton. I have been a teacher for the Inglewood Unified School District for the past 5 months. I've been an educator for 16 years. I have really enjoyed being a middle school teacher this school year, and getting to know this wonderful school community. I am honored to have been chosen as Principal for Bennett-Kew P-8 Leadership Academy of Excellence.

 

We want to welcome you to Bennett-Kew School. As the principal, my goal is to work with the teachers, students, and staff in providing quality education, setting high expectations, and creating a caring environment for members of our school community.

 

The students are why we are here! They not only excel academically, but are also learning about respect, leadership, ethical values, and social skills, which we at Bennett-Kew School consider to be equally important. We strive to create an environment where students feel safe, comfortable, and respected.

 

The mission of Bennett-Kew is to provide rigorous and equitable experiences to close the achievement gap. It is our belief that this can be accomplished by building personal relationships with our students, teachers, and school community. By learning from and understanding the cultural differences that make up our school culture, we at Bennett-Kew can move forward through thoughtful planning, maintenance of effective curriculum, and creation of new programs and powerful partnerships with both parents and community members. It is our belief that parents play a critical role in the success of our students and together we can focus on motivating students through an enjoyment and appreciation of learning.
