Free Mental Health First Aid Courses

Providence is offering free Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses. Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance abuse challenges. Courses will be offered virtually for Adult MHFA, virtually for Youth MHFA, and in-person for Spanish Adult MHFA. Parks After Dark

Parks After Dark (PAD) returns for the summer season with FREE activities at 34 LA County Parks. Bring your family and friends to PAD for free summer concerts, movie nights, and obtain a variety of community resources. This year, PAD brings more fun for all ages, with a different theme every week! Please join us at Helen Keller Park for endless summer fun! Helen Keller Park is the only PAD site located in SPA 8. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Injury Prevention Branch (IVPB), is releasing the Domestic Violence Prevention Program (DVP) Request of Application (RFA) 23-10050, to award up to two (2) contracts that will focus on strengthening economic security and mobility for Black women and their families. Awarded applicants will be expected to us the Close to Home (C2H) community mobilization approach to conduct primary prevention, community-level strategies as a protective factor for domestic violence (DV). The Department of Public Health has an ample supply of over-the-counter tests in our inventory, and are aiming to target high risk communities, as we have in the past. Please keep in mind once a request has been placed through the online form, the tests may take up to 2.5 weeks to arrive.
